ACROSS… THE AUSTRALIAN DESERT
Period:september-october 2003

The
plan would be to cross by feet, alone and in total autonomy one of the deserts in the Australian
continent. It would be the completion of the design of crossing by feet a desert for each continent.
Nobody was ever able to walk alone and without any support from the outside trough the world deserts and
till today, Carla is the only woman to have accomplished four solo challenges.
In september and october 2003, Carla will challenge the
Simpson desert located in the south-east of the Northern Territory of Australia. This period of time have been considered the best for Carla's challenge.
It's basic to understand witch would be the real possibility to find water, the most important element to
estimate the success of the challenge. The estimate
duration would be of about
forty days, but this could
vary by the environment and the climate conditions. Doing a on the spot location would be necessary to
judge the best equipment for the challenge.
Her husband Oscar which is also a doctor, would be as always part of the support team and would realize
the images about the beginning and the arrival of the trip, while Carla as it was done for the previous
challenges would take care of collecting material during the solo crossing itself.
Carla would have to be equipped with a
satellite communication system to be able to transmit data's of
the challenge to the support team and in case an emergency signal.
That would be the only kind of contact with the outside world during the desert crossing.
The objective is to accomplish the challenge before the end of 2002. If would be nice to be able to trace a lane to connect the continents through the deserts that a woman alone with only her dreams crossed proving that the impossible is only in our mind.
