After having completed the circle “one desert per continent” Carla has decided to offer the opportunity of sharing the experience and emotions in the desert to someone who would not be able to do it alone.
The idea came to her in ’98 during the crossing of the Taklimakan and again when she was crossing an other desert. After a long period of mental and physical preparation followed by specialists, Carla will leave with a blind man for this new adventure. The hope is to share the difficulty, but above all the emotions of trying the extreme with a travel companion who is highly sensitive. The primary objective is to see the differences and affinity they confront together during this extreme test, but above all to confront and to share their respective emotions. For years the dream of Carla has been to live for a period of time under the water in direct contact with the marine world that she loves as much as the desert.
The new project she expects to be for about a month, alone, living in a specially-created fixed-structure, anchored to the floor of the sea, at a depth of between 10 to 15 meters. She would have the possibility to go out of the bubble for short periods of time to visit her neighbors in the sea. The objective of this experiment is to prove, in terms of medical science, the capacity to adapt when a person is completely in solitude, in an environment that doesn’t belong to them and to see if the sea will one day be an living alternative to land.
The I would like to study the psychological reactions in extreme conditions, such as living in the water.
Also in this trial Carla will be followed by the University of Milan, faculty of motor science and sports medicine and prepared medically, psychologically and nutritionally. In consideration of the great interest shown by the media during her previous endeavours, some t.v. stations are studying the possibility of following the event with direct images from the bottom of the sea.
